Dear Every Woman Creator
Jun. 21st, 2024 10:40 pmGeneral Likes: 5+1 fic; Accidental baby acquisition; Alternate universes of any ilk; Angst with a happy ending; Characters getting therapy (though I prefer it be off-screen since I’m a mental health professional and will lowkey judge a bad therapy session/therapist); Exes to lovers; Found family; Non-traditional family structures (single parents, blended families, foster families, adopted families, families where there's no designated parental figure but they all consider each other family, etc.); Outsider POV; Polyamory; Pregnancy and kidfics (I’m also fine with mentions of miscarriage, abortion, pregnancy complications, etc.); Queer characters (especially non-binary characters); Romantic comedies; Smut; Worldbuilding
General Dislikes/DNWs: Body horror; Epistolary fic; Explicit queerphobia (referenced is fine); Mpreg (unless the character is a trans man seahorsing); Non-ethical non-monogamy (aka cheating, infidelity); Original siblings of canon characters; "Shipper on Deck" trope, or basically the idea that side characters in the story ship the main characters (I'm fine with other characters commenting on how well two characters suit each other romantically and being supportive of the relationship, but what really gets my goat is if the side characters are willing to give up their own happiness/well being for the sake of the main ship getting together, or are otherwise scheming to get the main characters together); Ship bashing of canon ships to make non-canon couples look better; Soulmate AUs or anything adjacent to the notion of “one true love” or someone you are “meant to find” (I’m fine if this is subverted somehow, like a soulmate AU where the main relationship aren’t soulmates); Vomit
Smut Likes: Bath/shower sex; body worship (especially breast worship); breeding kink; clothed sex; desk sex, dirty talk; dry humping (especially pillow humping, thigh humping); femdom; multiple orgasms; orgasm control (if they get to cum in the end); semi-public sex/risking getting caught
Smut Dislikes: bodily fluids other than semen/vaginal excretions used in sex (saliva is fine in amounts consistent with messy kissing or licking each other, but no spitting on each other please); female characters referring to straps as their cocks; foot kink; non-negotiated non-con; omegaverse played straight (subversions good/welcome! think alpha/alpha pairings, worldbuilding the universe to be focused on more than just sex); rimming
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Bobbi Morse: My blorbo to end all blorbos. She means everything to me. The things I love the most about Bobbi are her care and compassion for others and her devotion to S.H.I.E.L.D. as a cause. She is always trying to do what's right and recognizes that sometimes doing what's right can have really shitty consequences (see: her being willing to sacrifice herself for her team). One of the other things I find really compelling about Bobbi is how many layers she has. She is so good at hiding her feelings from others that sometimes I think she ends up hiding them from herself, too. If you want to write a more relationships-focused piece, then I love her romantic relationship with Hunter in canon but also ship her romantically with Daisy, May, and Mack. Gen-wise, it is free real estate, baby. I want to know about her friendships with everyone.
Daisy Johnson: Also extremely blorbo-shaped. Daisy went through so much growth throughout the course of the show (and so much trauma, holy shit) and I loved seeing her evolve from an anarchist hacker to a loyal agent to a superhero to Destroyer of Worlds. Everything along that arc compels me in different ways, though I have developed a recent fondness for hacker!Daisy and how she was creative and flexible to get to where she wanted to go. For shipping, my romantic ships with her change with the cycle of the moon but the pretty bulletproof ones are Trip, Sousa, and Bobbi. (Cricket, if you're reading this, I am also opting into Daisy/Ruby.) For gen relationships, my faves for her are Mack, Bobbi, and Kora but as with Bobbi, basically free real estate.
Bobbi Morse and Daisy Johnson: As I mentioned in both of their individual blurbs, I love Bobbi and Daisy either platonically or romantically (or that weird in-between queer women sometimes have where they're both into each other but don't know if the other one is into them so there's just!!! a lot of tension they may or may not act on!!!). They're both emotionally reserved in different ways (Daisy wears her heart on her sleeve but is guarded about her past, Bobbi is good at pretending like she's connecting with people but keeps a lot of vulnerability to herself) and I just love to see that dynamic play out.
Fandom-Specific DNWs: Grant Ward as anything other than a villain, Deke Shaw in any role, romantic Leo Fitz/Jemma Simmons (even in the background), romantic Daisy Johnson/Phil Coulson (even in the background)
Additional Prompts:
- For Bobbi: We know basically zero of her life pre-canon, except that she was friends with Mack and married to Hunter. Anything pre-canon to explain how she came to be the agent she was, whether that be her childhood, SHIELD Academy, or her SHIELD career pre-Coulson would be awesome! (If you want to include the comics canon of her being married to Clint, that's cool, but I would prefer that be a mention and not the focus of the story.)
- For Bobbi: In AOS canon Bobbi is never called Mockingbird, which I personally think is a crying shame. I would love to see her elevated one step above regular field agent to more of the superhero status she had in comics, but in a way that makes sense with AOS canon as we know it. Anything about her kicking ass and taking names (or training to do so, if you'd prefer a training montage!).
- For Daisy: Daisy as leader of the Secret Warriors is a storyline I would've loved to see play out for longer in canon. We got a few episodes but it could have easily been a season in its own right. Daisy's still relatively new to the whole superhero thing for herself when she starts working with the Secret Warriors, so how does that affect her? I'd love to see some team dynamics between her, Elena, Joey, and Lincoln!
- For Daisy: The time loop in season 7 was so much fun, and I wish that we had gotten to see more of it and Daisy in it. Tell me a story about any of the loops! (I realize this might be difficult with my Fitz/Simmons DNW due to the content/plot of the episode, so if you'd like to do this prompt but are worried about brushing up against that DNW, consider it waived - what I hope to avoid with that DNW is a fic that focuses on Daisy's opinions on Fitzsimmons's relationship or where her purpose is to get Fitzsimmons together.)
- For Bobbi and Daisy: The scene in season 2 where Bobbi comes to visit Daisy in quarantine and call her a rockstar lives rent-free in my head. I'd love to see this expanded on more, in either a canon-compliant or canon-divergent way. What happens if Bobbi is the one who discovers Daisy's blood is different now instead of Fitz? What if the quarantine breaks when they're talking (either purposefully or not!)?
- For Bobbi and Daisy: Post-Parting Shot reunion. I remain forever salty that Bobbi never returned after Parting Shot and would like that to change. Some points where it might be easy to have them reunite are when Daisy's on the run in the season 3/season 4 hiatus, in the Framework (Bobbi taking Trip's place?), in season 7 before they get pulled into the past, or after season 7 has concluded and everyone is just vibing. If you do romantic Bobbi/Daisy for this prompt, I'd prefer that line from Rewind about Bobbi and Hunter being "one hundred percent compatible, fifty percent of the time" not be brought up as the reason for Bobbi and Hunter's breakup. You can have them break up for a reason that amounts to the same thing, it's that specific verbiage that squicks me.
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn
Elincia: Elincia is one of my favorite characters in the game simply due to her backstory and her growth arc from being a sheltered young princess to a steadfast Queen. I love that she always tries to do her best for her people, but she's also more than a little out of her depth because of the way she was raised. I don't romantically ship her with much of anyone but if you have an Elinicia OTP you'd like to convert me to, I'm open to the possibility! No ship DNWs I can think of. I also love her platonic relationships with Lucia, Geoffrey, Ike, and especially Renning - her discovery that he's still alive always makes me a little weepy.
Titania: I have to admit a large part of why I like Titania is because she's just a fucking useful unit on the battlefield. I saw a Fire Emblem fancomic once where Soren got a concussion and couldn't strategize because of it, so his solution to every problem was just "send in Titania, it'll be fine" and that made me snort-laugh. Aside from utility in-game, I also find her role as second-in-command and advisor to Ike compelling, especially since Ike could've chosen someone else as his second when he ascended to leader of the mercenaries. I'm not super familiar with a lot of her support conversations or relationships with the mercenaries other than Ike, so any romantic or platonic relationship you'd like to explore with her is great for me!
Additional Prompts:
- For Elincia: Any scenes between the end of the Mad King's War and the beginning of Radiant Dawn. I'm especially interested in the politicking side of things, since she's young and inexperienced and there's tons of Crimean nobles to satisfy (or not).
- For Elincia: One of the things I always found interesting about FE was the relationship individual characters have to their weapons, and Elincia is no exception. By the end of Radiant Dawn Amity is locked to her inventory, and I like to believe there's a story reason to it in addition to the pure logistics of the game not wanting others to access it. What's the story behind Elincia refusing to give up her family's sword?
- For Titania: I see amazing hurt/comfort potential in Titania. She's someone who is competent but not invincible, and I would love to see both what could take her down and who she trusts to help build her back up again.
- For Titania: The Greil Mercenaries are on a mission and Titania gets separated from the others. What happens next? If you'd like to separate her with your romantic or platonic ship of choice, go right ahead! Tropes that could be good here are locked in together, huddling for warmth, accidental stimulation (if you're going for romance/smut).
Marvel Cinematic Universe
Carol Danvers: Oh Captain, my Captain. Poor Carol had such a shit hand and I just want her to get to be happy after so long being sad or confused or angry or guilty. The whole arc of her being underestimated again and again and again only to have her underestimate herself... I cry. I love her relationship with Maria as either romantic or platonic, and her platonic relationships with Marv-Ell, Kamala, and Monica.
Kamala Khan: MY BABY! I love how goddamn earnest Kamala is about everything, and how she maintains her optimism and her peppiness even after going through some truly bonkers shit. I also love that she is youthful without being juvenile. Yes, she lacks experience in a lot of the world but she's not naive beyond being a normal teenager, which I appreciate a lot. Her desire to do what's right even in the face of long odds is exactly what I love in my superheroes and I just want to keep her from any harm. Romantically I was not particularly captivated by either Kamran or Bruno, but if you have an idea for one of them you're dying to write, go for it! I loved all her platonic/familial relationships in both Ms. Marvel and the Marvels if you'd like to write a gen fic.
Maria Rambeau: We got criminally little of Maria in the MCU but we did see makes me love her so much. She and Carol obviously has an uphill climb with their time in the Air Force, and I assume Maria's was even worse than Carol's because of her race and her being a single mom. I love that Maria takes everything in such stride, including 'my dead best friend is not actually dead and also, there's aliens'. May we all have that energy. As I mentioned with Carol above, I like their relationship both romantically and platonically; would also be interested in exploring her mother/daughter relationship with Monica or any other platonic relationships that spark joy for you.
Monica Rambeau: Beloved!!! She was honestly the star of WandaVision for me, and obviously I loved her truly, madly, deeply in Captain Marvel and The Marvels. I love how she's a little bit jaded, especially when it comes to Carol, but she is also so incredibly kind. I love how complex her character is, how she wants so much and is also carrying around so much pain. I don't ship her romantically with anyone, but I love her familial relationship with her mom, as well as her platonic relationships with Carol, Kamala, and Jimmy. Don't really care much about Darcy but if you'd like to throw her in for a Monica&Jimmy fic go for it! I am honestly *so* chill when it comes to Monica because I just want more of her in any way I can get. (I know people who say they're super chill normally are not as chill as they say but I promise I really am!!!)
Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau: Prefer this ship remain platonic, no romance!
Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau: Prefer this ship remain platonic, no romance! The Marvels movie was made specifically with me in mind and I loved every moment of it specifically because of the dynamic between these three. The montage where they're working on switching their powers is *chef's kiss* and I just love them and all the messy relationships between them, between Kamala's fangirling and Monica's hurt and Carol's guilt. The movie could've been four hours long and I'd have loved it if we got more of the three of them.
Binary and Monica Rambeau: Prefer this ship remain platonic, no romance! Man what a fucking trip it would be to wake up and see someone with your mom's face who doesn't know you at all. I know we got precious little of these two in canon so I am really down for any interpretation or extrapolation of their relationship you feel called to. The "stranger with my mother's face" is the hook that pulled me in, but I'd love to see what other ground there is to tread here.
Fandom-Specific DNWs: "Thanos was right", even said jokingly; Endgame ending for Nat; Carol or Valkyrie being referred to as "lesbians" (prefer they be called bi or just generally queer, if you need to label them at all)
Additional Prompts:
- For Carol: The Skrull memory device lives rent-free in my head. What does Carol remember? What doesn't she? What are the side effects of using it as often as she does? Anything about remembering and forgetting is super interesting to me, so if you don't like the framing of the Skrull device but want to explore the themes of memory, feel free to do it in whatever way sings to your heart.
- For Carol: Please just someone give her a hug. I care not how Carol gets hugged or by whom, you could even have the cat do it for all I care. I just want her to have a hug.
- For Kamala: One of the things I loved about Ms. Marvel was all the ways Kamala's culture was front and center and would love to see more of it in fic. What parts of her culture you explore are totally up to you - I'd even be up for exploring her fannishness and what it means to her to be a part of fan culture, if you don't want to address the same cultural elements the show did.
- For Kamala: How did Kamala come to be a Captain Marvel fangirl? Who introduced her to Captain Marvel? Does everyone know, or just the people she's close to?
- For Maria: I'd love to see more of Maria as a human outside of her relationship with Carol, in any way that compels you. What was her relationship like with Marv-Ell, or the other women she knew in the Air Force? What about her family? Monica's dad? What does she like and dislike? I just need more Maria internality.
- For Maria: Would love to see Maria taking names and kicking ass as a pilot. If you're not into talking about her military career, I would also love to see something about the plane she has in her backyard - maybe she creates a side business of giving tours of Louisiana from the air, or takes local kids up for flights to blow their little minds?
- For Monica: How does Monica end up working for S.W.O.R.D.? I assume it's partially her mother's and Carol's influence that led her to this career but I'd love to see why S.W.O.R.D. and not, say, the CIA or NASA or something. Also would love anything about her early career years and what it looked like for her to be an intern or someone with less clout.
- For Monica: Learning more about her powers! There was a hell of a jump from the end of WandaVision to the beginning of The Marvels in terms of Monica's control of her powers as well as the scope of them. I love me a good training montage.
- For Carol and Monica: I would love to see more of Carol and child!Monica's relationship. Monica obviously adored Carol and didn't believe Carol was ever dead/not going to come back. I imagine that meant Carol leaving at the end of Captain Marvel and never coming back was a huge blow to her. Maybe something across Monica's childhood/teenage years centered around whether or not she believes Carol will come back?
- For Carol and Monica: the Aladna scene in the Marvels just makes me want more singing. So, Carol singing to Monica, Monica singing to Carol, Carol teaching Monica how to sing - lullabies, duets, karaoke, whatever makes your heart happy.
- For Carol and Kamala and Monica: Any missing moment from the Captain Marvel movie. The timeline on that movie made my brain hurt so honestly, don't agonize too much about whether or not the missing moment could have actually happened in canon timeline wise.
- For Carol and Kamala and Monica: Carol and Kamala's powers get entangled again. Somehow, this leads to them being able to bring Monica home. (Go as full hand-wavey on the "somehow" as you want. Seriously, you can full-on "somehow, Palpatine returned" me and I will still be delighted as long as the three of them are together at the end.)
- For Binary and Monica: I'd love to see an extended cut of that scene where Monica wakes up and discovers she's in another universe, including an extended conversation between her and Binary. Does Monica tell Binary the truth? How does Binary feel about knowing she had a daughter in another universe? Does Binary even believe her??? I am absolutely down for anything.
- For Binary and Monica: Binary as Monica's guide to the new universe. What that entails is up to you! I'd also love to see Monica trying to repay Binary in some way, whether that's a problem Binary needs solving or something else entirely. Basically just some reciprocity in the relationship. :)
The Orville
Kelly Grayson: I just love her so much. I was one of the people who thought I would for sure never like Kelly based on how she was introduced in canon, but she swept me off my feet with her competence and badassery. Her devotion to making amends to Ed after the situation with Darulio shows what a soft heart she has, and I also love how much she cares for everyone on her ship. In short, I love everything about her. Her romantic relationship with Ed is my favorite (exes-to-lovers has me in a death-grip) but I also ship her romantically with Talla and Pria, and could be convinced to ship Kelly/Teleya. Platonically I will shovel anything and everything I can get for her, but am especially interested in her relationships with Gordon and Isaac since we see the least of those in canon. For characters who don't appear in canon, I'm also curious what the story is between her and her dad, since he seemed to shape a lot of her worldview.
Claire Finn: My love for Claire was much more a slow-burn than my love for Kelly, but every time I've rewatched I loved something new about her. I love that she is older and wiser than the rest of the crew in some ways, but also occasionally makes dumb/impulsive decisions and has to bear the consequences of it. Her whole arc with Isaac was so out of left-field but I found myself charmed by it regardless. Romantically I ship her and Isaac, but also wouldn't mind an exploration of her ex-husband who later got turned into a bug. Platonically, I love her with her kids, but I also love the Claire&Kelly&Talla trio and their girls' nights together. Much like with Kelly, though, any platonic relationship you want to explore is fair game!
Fandom-Specific DNWs: Kelly's relationship with Darulio portrayed as cheating (I firmly believe he was in heat when they slept together for the first time and so the relationship was nonconsensual). It's fine if the characters believe that to be true or say as such, but I'd like them to be corrected either immediately or by the end of the fic.
Additional Prompts:
- For Kelly: Not a lot is known about Kelly's life before the Orville, but it's one of the most interesting parts of her story to me. How did she end up wanting to join the Union, and what was her early career like? How does she go from the younger, care-free version of herself we see in the past to the more tightly-buttoned person of the future? Any pre-canon idea you have would be great.
- For Kelly: Kelly in the season 2 finale alt timeline is somehow even more blorbo-shaped than regular Kelly. How does the decision not to date ed affect her, and what's it like for her carrying around so much knowledge of the future and not being able to do anything with it? What does she do instead of dating Ed?
- For Claire: Claire says in the pilot she goes to the ships where she's most needed. How did this philosophy start, and how does it work out for her?
- For Claire: We actually seem to get relatively little of Claire's role as the ship's doctor. What does being a doctor entail when medical technology is so advanced that you can press a button and heal a wound instantly? (Also, her HIPAA compliance is abysmal, so if you'd like to throw in some worldbuilding about why the ship's doctor is allowed to gossip about her patients in the mess hall, I'd love that too lol)
